To search the Chemical field in Advanced Search, preface the chemical symbol
for the substance or material with the CH field tag and an equal sign.
Indicate a role by appending the symbol (/) and the abbreviation for the role
after the chemical symbol (the role is not required).
You may use the Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT, and SAME. The operator SAME
specifies that the substances be components of the same substance or material
system.

Examples
-
CH=Cu searches for Cu in any role.
-
CH=CO* searches for CO, CO2, CO3, COH2, and so on.
-
CH=Cu/sur searches for Cu as a surface or substrate.
-
CH=Cu/sur OR CH=Y/sur searches for records containing either Cu or Y
(or both Cu and Y) as a surface or substrate.
-
CH=Cu/sur AND CH=Y/sur searches for records containing both Cu and Y
as a surface or substrate.
-
CH=(Cu2/ss SAME Sr2/Ss) searches for records containing Cu2
and Sr2 in a system with three or more components. Here, the SAME operator
specifies that Cu2 and Sr2 be components of the same system.
If they were combined with AND, then Cu2 could be a component of one
system and Sr2 a component of a different system in the same record.
-
CH=(Si/int SAME H/dop) searches for records in which Si (as an interface
system) and H (as a dopant) are in the same material system.
