Address

Search the Address field by entering the name of an institution and/or place name from an author's address. Combine an Address search with an Author search to broaden or narrow your search results.

Note To display this field on the Search page, review the instructions for Add Another Field.

Guidelines for Entering Address Terms

Be aware that many address terms and their abbreviations are non-English.

  • Inst. fur Elektron., Graz, Austria

  • Electron. Eng. Lab., Kent Univ., Canterbury, UK

  • Lab. de Cristallogr., CNRS, Grenoble, France

  • Electron Crystallogr. Lab., Hauptman-Woodward Inst., Buffalo, NY, USA

Use wildcards to find variants of terms. For example, Penn* State Univ* matches Penn State Univ., Pennsylvania State Univ., and Pennsylvania State University.

Join multiple words or phrases with the search operators AND, OR, or NOT. For example:

  • Astron AND Sheffield finds records where Astron and Sheffield are in the same address (that is, Dept. of Phys. & Astron., Univ. of Sheffield, UK).

  • Harvard OR Yale finds records where either Harvard or Yale is in the Address field.

  • Kings NOT UK finds records where Kings is in the Address field but UK is not.

Search Tips

  • To search on an address that contains a Boolean (AND, OR, NOT, and SAME), enclose the name in quotation marks. Example: Portland "OR"

  • Inspec abbreviates many address terms. Note that you need not include the period after an abbreviation in your search. Address Abbreviations
