View all of the information about a record that is contained in the Current Contents Connect databases. The title of the document appears at the top of
the page.
Any or all of the following fields may appear in a record (including eFirst
records) depending on the content and type of the source document. If no data
are available for a particular field, then the field does not display.
If a record is an eFirst record, then the title eFIRST will appear
above the title of the document. See Source for more
information.
Full Record Fields
Title
The full title of the article. All article and chapter titles are in English.
Titles of articles and book chapters that are not published in English are translated
into English, unless the publication provides an English-language translation.
NCBI
This button opens a new browser Web page that contains a table with NCBI resource
names that link to the National Center for Biotechnology
Information (NCBI). This option is only available for records for which a
PubMedID exists.
Visit the NCBI Web site to look for more information on a genome or nucleotide.
Explore human genome resources or bring up a Map Viewer to browse the human genome
sequence. Enhance your research and find detailed information about molecular
biology, computational biology, and more.
Author(s)
The author(s) of the article or book chapter. You may see two versions of an
author name in records of articles published in 2007 and later. For example: Diaz,
G (Diaz, Gregorio). Be aware that you must still search for an author by last
name followed by one or more initials.
Anonymous authors appear as [Anon]. If, however, there are group authors, then
the field is blank.
For newly indexed records, a superscript number may appear after an author's
name. This means we have found an association between the author's name and the
author's address. When you click the number link, the system takes you to the
Addresses field where you can see the author's
address.
In some cases, an author may be assigned more than one address and you will
see more than one superscript number. In other cases, an author may not be assigned
an address while other authors of the same article are assigned an address. This
occurs when we cannot determine which address is associated with an author.
The product maintains the author / address association when you print, e-mail,
save, and export records. In the Address field of your output document, look for
the author's name before the address.
We also maintain the association in citation alerts and journal alerts. Under
the Research Institutions Addresses section of the alert, look for the author's
name before the address.
Group Author(s)
The group author(s) of the article or book chapter.
Source
The journal or book title, volume, issue, page span, and year of publication.
Every Full Record contains a link to the table of contents for the journal
or book in which the article is published. Click the URL to display the table
of contents for the journal issue in which the article is published. Once
on the Table of Contents page you can view other articles in the same journal
or view other tables of contents.
eFirst enables you to get bibliographic information from electronic journals
before an issue is published. If the article is an eFirst article, then
the source is not linked to a table of contents.
Article Number
The unique publisher article number.
This field only appears in records that have both page numbers and article numbers.
If a record has only an articles number, then the article number is displayed
instead of the page number in the Publication Name.
Abstract
The full author abstract. Abstracts in Current Contents are complete,
English-language author abstracts taken directly from the source articles. Abstracts
not published in English are not included.
Document Type
The selected document type.
All eFirst records
are assigned the Article document type.
Language
The selected language of the source document.
Some publishers do not
provide a language type for eFirst records.
Author Keywords
Author keywords are provided by the author(s) of the source article. They are
taken directly from source articles and are identified as keywords in the source
articles.
Keywords Plus
KeyWords Plus® are index terms created by Thomson Reuters
from significant, frequently occurring words in the titles of an article's cited
references.
Addresses
The reprint address along with the reprint author name and all research addresses.
Note that there is only one reprint address and it is listed first if it exists
for the record.
A reprint address may include:
- Reprint author
- Organization
- Suborganization
- Street
- City
- State or Province
- Zip or Postal Code
The number before the address is associated with the author name that appears
in the Author(s) field with the same (superscript) number. See Arthor(s)
for more information.
E-mail Address
Lists all known e-mail addresses for the article, including the reprint author.
See also Sending a E-RAP
Publisher

the publisher's home page.
For eFirst records, only information provided by the publisher is included,
which is usually the publisher's name.
Discipline
The Current Contents discipline to which the journal belongs. This field
may also include a link to Current Web Contents.
CC Editions / Collections
The Current Contents edition(s) and collections in which the journal
is covered.
IDS Number
The Thomson Reuters Document Solution® number. This number
uniquely identifies the journal and issue. It is used to order the full text of
the article from Document Solution.
ISSN
The International Standard Serial Number is a unique eight-digit number that
identifies periodical publications such as journals and electronic publications.
ISBN
The International Standard Book Number is a unique machine-readable identifier
that marks a book unmistakably.

The Digital Object Identifier (DOI®) is a system for permanently
identifying and exchanging intellectual property in the digital environment.
Example: DOI: 10.1134/S1061920808010020

This field only appears
for eFirst articles.

-
Finish addressing your message, and then click the Send button of your
browser or e-mail program to send your request to the author.
PrintRAP utility, which is available for both Windows® and
Macintosh® machines. This utility prints requests for reprints
on special Request-A-Print® cards, which can be dropped in the mail. To obtain
