AB=Abstract
Searches the Abstract field within a record.
AD=Address
Searches for institution and/or place names in the Address field within a record.
AU=Author
Searches for author names in the following fields within a record: Author(s)
(both book and journal) and Editor(s).
BN=Biblio Note
Searches the Notes field within a record.
BT=Broad Terms
Searches the Broad Terms field within a record.
CA=Corporate Author
Searches the Corporate Author and Book Author fields within the Author field
of a record.
DE=Descriptors
Searches the Descriptors Data table within a record.
IC=Identifying Codes
Searches for codes in the following fields within a record.
- Accession Number
- ISSN
- ISBN
PU=Publisher
Searches the Publisher field within a record.
PY=Year Published
Searches the Source Published field within a record. You must combine this
field tag with another field tag using the AND or NOT Boolean operator.
Example: TS=cell AND PY=2007
When entering a range of years, restrict your search to five years or less; otherwise,
processing slows down and the product will return too many unproductive results.
SD=Subject Descriptors
Searches the following fields and tables within a record.
- Broad Terms
- Descriptors Data
- Super Taxa
- Systematics
- Taxa Notes
Searching
by Subject Descriptors (SD) will retrieve everything that a search by Descriptors
(DE) will retrieve. However, the converse is not true. Subject Descriptors is
a more inclusive field.
SO=Publication Name
Searches for publication names in the Source field within a record. The product
retrieves books titles and journal titles.
ST=Super Taxa
Searches the Super Taxa field within a record.
SY=Systematics/Organism
Searches the Systematics table within a record.
TA=Taxa Notes
Searches the Taxa Notes field within a record.
TI=Title
Searches the Title field within a record.
TS=Topic
Searches for topic terms within the following fields and tables within a record.
- Title
- Book Title
- Abstract
- Broad Terms
- Descriptors Data
- Super Taxa
- Systematics
- Taxa Notes
