About Chinese Science Citation Database

The Chinese Science Citation Database contains important research and citation data from China, including research trends, top authors, institutions, journals, and more. It is a leading research tool, helping you to quickly find, analyze, and share information from the world's foremost scholarly research. Designed for both novice and professional researchers, its streamlined search process makes it easy for you to quickly find and analyze past and present available research in your field.

The database covers over 1,200 top scholarly publications from China in all areas of science with over 2,000,000 records and 837,000 English-language abstracts.

You can search and view bibliographic results in both Chinese (Simplified) and English.

New Features and Announcements

Open Access

Open access status is provided across the Web of Science platform as a result of a partnership with ImpactStory, a not-for-profit organization that recently launched oaDOI, a knowledgebase of Open Access (OA) content. This knowledgebase makes it possible to discover and link to legal Gold (journal level), Hybrid Gold (open content in an otherwise paywalled journal), and Green (author self-archived) OA content. This partnership improves discoverability and access to article-level OA content by not only adding more links to OA content, but also by prioritizing the links to the best version of OA content when multiple versions of an article are available.

The OA status of a document can be one of the following:.

Gold: A freely accessible final version of an article. Consult the copyright owner for any re-use or licensing requests. Articles are located at a publisher website in one of the following:

A journal that publishes only open access articles.
A journal that allows individual authors to pay an article-processing charge for their research to be open access in an otherwise subscription-based journal.
A journal that allows archival content to be open access after a period of time.

Green: A freely accessible version of an article located in a subject-based repository such as PubMed Central or in an institutional repository. This version of the article may vary from a peer-reviewed accepted manuscript to the final published version based on the journal’s policies. Because the accepted manuscript may vary from the final published version, they are labelled distinctly as Green Accepted and Green Published respectively.
No: Only subscribers may access the full-text of the article.

A key advantage of the partnership with oaDOI is the ability to prioritize the open access links so the user sees the version of record at the publisher’s site first, followed by the final version at a repository, and then the accepted manuscript at the repository last. Only one open access link is provided.

Users may refine search results to identify these open access articles to ensure they can read the articles regardless of their library’s holdings.

These values are also available for export as part of the full record.

Early Access

Early Access will be introduced for articles in the Web of Science Core Collection, starting in December, 2017. This doctype indicates an article that has been electronically published by a journal before it has been assigned to a specific volume and issue. These articles are also known as "articles in press" or "publish ahead of print" depending on the publisher's branding..

These articles provide earlier discoverability, and are fully indexed, including a new online publication date from the publisher. These articles accrue Time Cited counts in this earlier stage of publication so the most complete view of the article's impact is preserved. Full Web of Science functionality, including alerts and export to output, is also offered.

Daily Alerts

For your saved search history within the Web of Science Core Collection, you can now specify that search results can trigger a daily alert, in addition to the other alert frequencies.

Sort and Filter

Commonly used filters have been made more accessible. Additionally, with the addition of Open Access and Early Access information, searches and search results can now be filtered by these values.

Modify Settings: Auto-Suggest Publication Names (Caution)

Selecting the Chinese language as the search language in All Databases or the Chinese Science Citation Database automatically turns off the auto suggestion setting in all silo product databases in Web of Science. The OFF option will actually appear in the Auto-Suggest Publication Names box in all product.

To turn back on the auto suggestion feature, you must first select English or Auto Select as the search language in Modify Settings. Next, you must set the Auto-Suggest feature to ON. Once this happens, the ON option will appear in the Auto-Suggest box in all product databases.

You can go to Web of Science Core Collection and other product databases and manually turn on Auto-Suggestions.

Adding Records to Your EndNote Account

To use this feature, you must be a registered user of Web of Sciencce and you must sign in.

If you are not signed in after you select the record(s) to add to your EndNote account, the system prompts you to sign in after you click the EndNote link. The system then returns you to the Results or Full Record page from where you will have to re-submit your records to your EndNote library.
