Analyze Results

Use this feature to group and rank records in a results set by extracting data values from a variety of fields. Use this function to find the most prevalent authors in a particular field of study or generate a list of institutions ranked by record count based on your search query.

Click the Analyze Results Analyze Results icon link that appeard on the Results, Citing Articles, Related Records, and Marked List pages to begin a session.

  • Data Citation Index

Note: This tool is not accessible from the Results page of an All Databases search. You need to select a record from the All Databases Results page, and then select Analyze Results from the Full Record page of the selected record.

Author Search (Web of Science Core Collection Only)

Click the Author Search link that appears on the Web of Science Core Collection menu bar to go to the Search by Author Name page where you can search for author names. Search results lead you to the Article Groups page where you can review and refine sets of results associated with the searched author name.

Citation Map

A Citation Map is a graphical representation that shows the citation relationships (cited references and citing articles) between a paper and other papers using various visualization tools and techniques.

Click the Citation Map Citation Map icon icon that appears on any Full Record and Cited References pages to go to the Citation Mapping Setup for Literature Record page to begin a session.

Citation Report and h-index

The Citation Report provides aggregate citation statistics for a set of search results. These statistics include the total number of results found in a search, the total number of times all records have been cited, the average number of times a record has been cited, and more.

Click the Create Citation Report Create Citation Report icon link that appears on the Results, Citing Articles, Related Records, and Marked List pages to begin a session.

Cited Reference Search

This function allows you to search for articles that have cited a previously published work. Click the Cited Reference Search text link that appears on the menu bar at the top of any Search page in a citation product database.

Article Groups (Web of Science Core Collection Only)

Perform an Author Search to go to the Article Groups page where you you can review record sets associated with an author.

Refine Results

Refine your search results by selecting topics from the Refine Results panel that appears in the left-hand column on the Results page.

Search within Results

Refine your results by entering new terms in Search within Results field located in the left-hand column on the Refine Results panel on the Results page.

Times Cited Sorting

Select this sort option from the Sort by menu on the Results page. This menu appears at the top of the Results list on the right side of the page.
