Search Alerts Usage

The Search Alerts Usage report shows usage statistics for the search alerts purchased by your institution. (Statistics for table of contents alerts and citation alerts are provided in separate reports.) The report is divided into three parts. At the top of the page are search alerts totals. In the middle section, the totals are broken down by individual products in your Web of Knowledge subscription. At the bottom is a pie chart that illustrates the proportion of available alerts used by each product.

Search Alerts Totals

Search Alerts Totals show statistics for the following variables. The totals aggregate the numbers for the same variables in all products in your Web of Knowledge subscription.

Search Alerts by Product

This section of the page distributes the number of alerts used by product. The sum total of all of the alerts used in this section should be the same as the alerts used under Search Alerts Totals. However, the sum total of all users in this section may be greater than the number of users under Search Alerts Totals. This is because the same user may have alerts in multiple products. Therefore, that user is counted more than once in this section of the report.

If you elected to include individual user details on the Select a Report page, the report identifies for each alert:

  • Alert Creator
  • Alert Name
  • Alert Recipient
  • Expiration Date
  • Alert Description. The optional description provided by the creator of the alert at the time the alert is set up.

Search Alerts Chart

The pie chart at the bottom of the page shows the proportion of alerts used in relation to the total number of alerts purchased. "Free" alerts are unused alerts.

Note: No pie chart will appear if you elected to include individual user details on the Select a Report page.
