Searching the Publication Name field

Enter a publication name to search the Source field in a record. Titles of Russian-language publications have been transliterated from Cyrillic script to Latin script. Consequently, to search for Russian-language publications, you may enter the title in either Cyrillic or Latin script. For example:

  • Агрохимия finds records of articles published in Агрохимия
  • Agrokhimiya finds the same records because it is a transliteration of the title Агрохимия

The database includes records of documents from English-language publications. Journal of Mining Science finds records of articles published in Journal of Mining Science.

Enter the full publication name of a Russian-language publication in Cyrillic or Latin script:

  • Сибирский экологический журнал finds records of articles published in Сибирский экологический журнал
  • Sibirskii ekologicheskii zhurnal also finds records of articles published in Сибирский экологический журнал

For titles transliterated from Cyrillic script to Latin script, you may enter a partial title followed by a wildcard:

  • Sibirskii ekologicheskii* finds records of articles published in journals whose titles begin with Sibirskii ekologicheskii
  • Kardiol* finds records of articles published in Kardiologiya or Kardiologicheskii vestnik

You cannot truncate the name of a Russian-language publication in Cyrillic script.

You may search for documents from multiple publications by combining publication names names with the search operator OR:

  • Кардиология OR Кардиологический вестник finds records of articles published in either Кардиология or Кардиологический вестник
  • Kardiologiya OR Kardiologicheskii vestnik finds the same records as the search Кардиология OR Кардиологический вестник finds.

Note that publication names that contain a search operator (AND, OR, NOT, SAME) must be enclosed in quotation marks. For example: "Cardiovascular Therapy and Prevention"

Mixed Language Searches

You can combine publication names in English and Latin script in a single search. For example:

"Cell and Tissue Biology" OR Kardiologiya finds records of articles published in Cell and Tissue Biology or Kardiologiya (Кардиология). Note the quotation marks around Cell and Tissue Biology. That title contains the word and, which is a search operator.

If you want to search for publication names in Cyrillic and Latin script in the same search:

  1. Enter one of the names in the search box. Select Publication Name as the search field.

  2. Click Add another field. Enter the other name in the search box. Select Publication Name as the search field.

  3. Select the search operator OR from the menu of operators.

  4. Click Search.

As an alternative, go to Advanced Search and enter a query that prefaces each name with the field tag SO. For example: SO=Кардиология OR SO="Cardiovascular Therapy and Prevention"
