Advanced Search: Searching the Chemical Field

To search the Chemical field in Advanced Search, preface the chemical symbol for the substance or material with the CH field tag and an equal sign. Indicate a role by appending the symbol (/) and the abbreviation for the role after the chemical symbol (the role is not required).

You may use search operators (AND, OR, NOT, NEAR).

Examples
  • CH=Cu searches for Cu in any role.

  • CH=CO* searches for CO, CO2, CO3, COH2, and so on.

  • CH=Cu/sur searches for Cu as a surface or substrate.

  • CH=Cu/sur OR CH=Y/sur searches for records containing either Cu or Y (or both Cu and Y) as a surface or substrate.

  • CH=Cu/sur AND CH=Y/sur searches for records containing both Cu and Y as a surface or substrate.

  • CH=(Si/int AND H/dop) searches for records in which Si (as an interface system) and H (as a dopant) are both in the Chemical Indexing field.
