Biological Activity List

The biological activity list is a controlled vocabulary of all biological activities assigned to compounds in Index Chemicus.

Find Option

  1. Enter a word in the text field. Wildcards (* ?) are permitted.

  2. Click the Find button to go to a list of codes that contain the characters that you entered.

  3. Click the Add button to add a code to the text box at the bottom of the page.

  4. Click OK to transfer the selected item(s) to the search page.

Note Try searching for the same or related activities in more than one way. For example, if you are interested in compounds with anticarcinogenic activity, search for anticarcin*, carcin*, and antineop*. You can only search for one term at a time.

Example

If you enter cardi* you will find these biological activities:

  • CARDIAC ACTIVITY
  • CARDIOTONIC ACTIVITY
  • CARDIOTOXIC ACTIVITY
  • CARDIOVASCULAR ACTIVITY
